Follow the Data

28.02.2026   1 min

Icebreaker by Nextcloud CEO Frank Karlitschek in his talk on digital sovereignty at a CH Open event in Bern .

The original quote by Frank:

At Nextcloud we did a very complicated research project over many many months and then after that a very complex visualization project to see where the data is and I can show you the very complex results: This is where the data is.

Regarding digital sovereignty, this slide probably expressed best why Nextcloud might be a good option:

A man presenting slides in front of an audience. The slides on the screen say: “Why does Nextloud give you Digital Sovereignty? Hosted On-Prem or infrastructure you choose. Cloud Act doesn’t apply. Open Source license can’t be changed. Open Standards with rich ecosystem. Code audits. Forking possible.”
